Vitiligo treatment, care, prevention
Currently there is no way to prevent vitiligo.
There is no treatment that cures vitiligo definitively challenge. The makeup is sometimes enough health when vitiligo is not extended. Otherwise, the role of therapeutic measures is to stimulate the proliferation of melanocytes still present in epidermal reservoirs. These treatments will be considered only if there is demand.
Phototherapy UVB (ultra violet B-type) selective tends increasingly to be the first proposed treatment for generalized vitiligo. It stimulates the melanocytes only by action of the UVB spectrum narrower. A rate of 2 to 3 sessions per week at first, the dose is gradually increased by 10-20% per session and must not exceed the total of 300 treatment sessions. In the treatment of segmental vitiligo or limited, tended to phototherapy this "targeting" the affected areas while maintaining healthy skin. The results of treatment by UVB is highly variable. The re-pigmentation is always partial and often transitory. Some patients do not at all. The type of response does not depend on the age or the type of vitiligo or the doses used. White people with vitiligo has lost its protection against the sun, making it a candidate to burns from the sun and in the long term, cancer of the skin. Moreover, sometimes burns extend areas depigmentation. Therefore, it is vital for these people to protect themselves from the sun with a SPF 30 sunscreen applied at least 30 minutes before sun exposure (check the screen that protects against UVA and UVB). It is important to stay in the shade from 11 am to 14 pm, the sun is at zenith.
Apart from the disfigurement that can be major, vitiligo has no impact on long-term organic except where it is associated with other autoimmune diseases that evolve on their own account. Therefore, autonomy and life are not affected by vitiligo. Emotional support is another important aspect of treatment of vitiligo. Indeed, the skin changes caused by vitiligo can affect emotional and social. The act of joining a support group or see a counselor can help the person to adapt to the consequences of vitiligo. |
